Originally from Quebec City, Richard Marceau is a former Bloc Québécois Member of Parliament who converted to Judaism after a long process that began with his meeting the woman of his life and continued with the discovery of a community, a faith, and a people, all of which are now as much a part of his identity as his deep Quebec roots.
Tearing down stereotypes about Jews, Richard Marceau tells us about himself, using his own story to convey Jewish history and culture. He draws an original portrait of the State of Israel, the role it plays in today's Jewish identity, and helps us discover Quebec's Jewish community.
Denouncing prejudices and intellectual dishonesty, identifying himself as a pro-Palestinian Zionist, Richard Marceau calls for a respectful dialogue, promoting both the legitimacy of the Jewish State of Israel and the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
Richard Marceau is a lawyer in both Quebec and Ontario, a graduate of Laval University Law School, the University of Western Ontario Law School and France's Ecole Nationale d'Administration. He sat in the House of Commons from 1997 to 2006 and today is an active member of the Canadian Jewish community.
